Here are some helpful tips to help you save energy and help the environment!
1. Check your loft insulation.
If you do not have any, check out the Green Homes Scheme and see what help you can get.
The recommended depth is currently 270mm, so it could also be worth 'topping up' to improve the amount of money you spend on heating.
2. Do you have Cavity Wall Insulation?
Save around £90 per year on your heating bills and reduce your CO2 footprint by 750kgs!
3. Don't leave appliances on standby.
4. When using a kettle or pan to heat/boil water - only use as much as you need.
5. Never leave lights on in an unattended room.
6. Never leave power plugs or adaptors switched on when not in use.
7. Recycle household waste.
8. Use as many energy saving lightbulbs as is practically possible throughout your home.
9. Dry clothes outside whenever possible.
10. Cut back on your carrier bag usage when out shopping.
11. Close curtains at dusk to stop heat escaping through windows.
12. If you are not filling up the washing machine, use the half-load or economy programme.
